Black Chip Poker to Release the Beast Weekly

Posted on by George Mitchell

Black Chip Poker to Release the Beast WeeklyDue to the success of the site´s progressive rake race, Black Chip Poker has announced that it is to release the “Beast” weekly starting from this weekend.

The “Beast” is one of the more popular promotions hosted on Black Chip Poker in which players contribute to an increasing prize pool by playing on premium “Jackpot” tables, which is then divided according to the number of points players have earned by their individual contribution.

Up until last October, the Beast was a monthly event, with the combined prize pool (cash awards and tournament entries) regularly exceeding $200,000; but then it was changed to a twice-a-month promotion to allow casual players a better opportunity to collect a prize, and now – with the bi-monthly prize pools reaching $130,000 each period – the decision has been made to host the promotion weekly.

How the Beast Gets Fed and Winners Get Paid

The Beast gets fed by a premium being put on the rake when four or more players see flop in a cash game at a Jackpot table. The premium gets added to the prize pool which is divided between cash awards (72%) and tournament entries (28%) to Black Chip Poker´s 10 package guaranteed qualifier to the Latin Series of Poker (LSOP) live event in Panama.

Players are awarded points depending on how many players are involved in a post-flop hand, and what stake unit they are playing at. The points accumulate throughout the week, with the top point earners (usually around 200-250 players) sharing in the cash payouts, while up to 500 players receive tournament entry tickets.

How Much is the Beast Worth?

In cash prizes alone, the Beast has paid out $257,739 over the past six weeks with the winner of the last (bi-monthly) period´s competition “MamaCoolJ” collecting a cool $7,790 for first place. The top eleven players all received a cash bonus in excess of $1,000 and cash prizes were distributed to 234 players in total (a min-cash was worth $79.26).

Although the individual value of the prizes will not be so high when the Beast promotion is run weekly, it should see more recreational players putting in a shift so that the deep payout structure continues and, as the promotion becomes more popular still, first place prizes should get up to around $5,000.

What Else is New on Black Chip Poker?

Just in case you missed the news, Black Chip Poker is running an On Demand freeroll leaderboard which also awards tickets for the 10 package guaranteed LSOP qualifier – with the leaderboard competition winner also receiving entry into the site´s $50,000 guaranteed Sunday tournament.

“On Demand” freerolls run around the clock and start when 270 players have registered for each tournament. In addition to winning a cash prize, the top ten finishers in each event are awarded points which count towards the leaderboard competition. In theory, the winner of a leaderboard tournament could use their skill and expertise to win a valuable prize in the feature tournament – all for free!
